Business as usual at Health Unit, but expect delays

Dec 12, 2013
Business continues as usual at the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit offices at 15 Sperling Drive today; however, the public is advised to expect delays for the remainder of the week due to the strike by non-health unit personal service workers who are picketing the entrances to the parking lot and delaying access for motor vehicles.
BARRIE – Business continues as usual at the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit offices at 15 Sperling Drive today; however, the public is advised to expect delays for the remainder of the week due to the strike by non-health unit personal service workers who are picketing the entrances to the parking lot and delaying access for motor vehicles.
Apart from such delays, the strike does not affect any health unit programs or services that take place at this location, including water sampling, food premise inspections, health hazard complaints, reporting of animal exposures (rabies), or access to immunization records.
While the health unit remains open and staffed during the strike, the public is encouraged to consider alternative arrangements to access the health unit. Up-to-date information about our services is available at www.simcoemuskokahealth.org  or by calling Health Connection at 705-721-7520 (1-877-721-7520) during business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
While the health unit is not able to predict how long this situation will last, it does have a plan in place to help minimize any service disruptions and will continue to keep the public and partners informed of changes.
