Do you know what diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and addiction all have in common?

Produced in partnership with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit

SIMCOE MUSKOKA - Do you know what diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and addiction all have in common?

All are chronic conditions; they are long-lasting and often develop slowly over a period of time. What do they also have in common?  No one ever chooses to have any of them. To have diabetes, cancer, heart disease or addiction is not a choice.

Successful recovery from addiction also occurs over long periods of time. Recovery involves self-change and/or multiple treatments and sometimes overcoming relapse.

We see what we want to see. See that addiction is not a choice.
