You can protect your family from Lyme disease and West Nile virus (WNv) by preventing tick and mosquito bites. To prevent bites, wear light, long-sleeved shirts and pants and use insect repellent according to manufacturer’s directions. Avoid going outside when mosquitoes are most active, and avoid shrubs or grassy areas as ticks are usually found close to the ground. For more information about WNv or Lyme disease call Your Health Connection at 705-721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or visit simcoemuskokahealth.org.
