Healthy teeth, talking to teens in health unit newsletter

Mar 15, 2012
The spring issue of Health Matters, the quarterly newsletter from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, discusses the benefits of fluoride as part of a regular dental health program.

The spring issue of Health Matters, the quarterly newsletter from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, discusses the benefits of fluoride as part of a regular dental health program.

One of the most common causes of pain and illness for children is tooth decay, yet it is often considered a part of childhood instead of a preventable health risk. The feature explores seven simple steps to get children into the habit of protecting their teeth.

The newsletter also covers three other challenging topics for parents.

  • Introducing children to awkward conversation topics as they grow.
  • Supporting a child who is gay, lesbian or bisexual.
  • Reducing the environmental hazards children face around the home.

Health Matters is distributed to doctors’ offices, libraries and other locations around Simcoe and Muskoka. It is also available on the health unit’s website at www.simcoemuskokahealth.org in the Library section.
