SIMCOE MUSKOKA Barrie, Orillia, Midland and Bradford-West Gwillimbury have each been chosen as sites to host STOP Smoking Workshops in March. The workshops support tobacco users who are ready to make a quit smoking attempt.
A workshop lasts approximately three hours and includes tips on successful quitting, supports that are available to help and an overview of how to use the free supply of nicotine patches provided to all participants.
Nicotine replacement therapies (NRT) such as the patch and gum have been shown to effectively help people quit smoking by easing withdrawal symptoms.
The workshops are being offered by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit in partnership with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Preregistration is required by calling Health Connection at 705-721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520.
