Travel

Immunizations may be required for travel to other countries. Protecting yourself with vaccines is a good way to protect your health while travelling.

Most vaccines take time to become effective in the body and some are given over time in a series. It is best if you arrange for an appointment at your health care provider or travel clinic for required travel immunizations at least 4- 6 weeks before travelling. The health unit can provide you with a summary of recommendations for travel to your destination.

If it is less than 4 weeks before you leave you can still benefit from vaccines or medications and other information about how to protect yourself from illness and injury while traveling.

The Health Unit does not provide travel vaccines or counselling, however, can provide travel recommendations appropriate to specific destinations. For travel health information and location of clinics in your area call or click Health Connection at 1-877-721-7520 or 705-721-7520.
